Regulations

UPDATED 11/26/2007

MOTORS
Ford and Chevy to be a max of 362 cu. in and Chrysler has a max of 368 cu. in. Any flat top or any dome piston allowed, Flat tappet cams with stock size lifters (no rollers or mushroom lifters). Lifter bores must remain stock. Only stud mounted rockers, no shaft mounted rockers of any kind. Any Length of rods are allowed, aluminum rods are OK. Aftermarket rods and cranks are OK. No Block lightening. Any Intake with a single 4 bbl carburetor. Max 2" spacer below carburetor. No dominator or predator carburetors or injectors. Only Steel Heads allowed (No aluminum), 23 degree cast iron heads only, vortec intakes and heads allowed. No roller bearing in motors. No dry sump system. Any fuel pump allowed, except no electric fuel pumps under any circumstances. If you are not running these engine rules, you will have to be running 11” rubber on both rears at all sanctioned TWMA events. If you are found not following these engine rules and are not running 11” tires on the rear, you will be disqualified (No points and no money)

WEIGHT
Cars must weight 2,400 lbs after race with driver included nothing added after race. Added weight must be securely mounted and painted white with the car number on it. Weight that falls off during race will not be allowed back on car for weighing after race. Races at tracks with scales will be weighed.

CHASSIS
All chassis will be required to be stock frame or square tubing, (3'' x 3'' or 2'' x 4'' x 120 wall) thickness or lower rails 1'' max offset on engines and drivelines min wheelbase 106'' no aluminum frames or roll cages allowed. Chassis must not be offset more than 4''. Engine set back from back of motor to center of front axel to be 44”. Any car with more than 44” set back will be required to run 11” rubber on both rear wheels.

BODY
Narrow, D.I.R.T. Southern/Northern wide bodies are ok. Must have roof, hood, side panels that extend to back of engine plate and body must be mounted flush to outside of frame. Roof must connect to side panels in the rear. Wide Body are ok. Easy to reach fire extinguishers recommended. You must maintain a professional looking and clean body at all times. Roof angle is 12 degrees max. There will be no front wings or spoilers on the rear of the car allowed.

BUMPERS
All bumper and kick rails will be constructed of round tubing only. Front bumper must be mounted to frame rails and the bumper can not be wider than the frame rails and must close the loop (No open ends). Max 1 3/4 '' O.D. Rear bumpers must be narrower by at least 2'' from the outside of the tires, and may not extend further back than 44'' from the rear tires. Only one kick rail on each side allowed must have one on each side. Front and Rear bumper uprights will not be higher than 8''. Bumper will be rounded ends and closed with no sharp edges. Any driver using his bumper for a battering ram will be taken off the track and suspended form TWMA for life.

REAR ENDS
Type optional but must not be offset more than 4'' total. The car must have a safety loop for the drive shaft, enclosed or open. No limited slip differentials or traction devices. Spool type only. The car must have two wheel working brakes.

TRANSMISSION
You must have working forward, neutral, and reverse. Flywheel must turn with motor in an automatic transmission. Transmissions shield mandatory. Cars must start under there own power. If car has to be pushed of for feature, he will start on rear. No in & out boxes allowed.

SUSPENSION
No electrically adjustable shocks. No adjustable devices allowed inside of car or within driver compartment. No wing adjustment can be made from the driver’s compartment.

FUEL
Gasoline or Methanol can be ran. No nitro methane allowed. No nitrous oxide system. No superchargers or turbo. Top lube is ok. Make sure fuel cell is large enough to run 30 laps. Fuel cell can not to exceed 40 gallons. You must have a screw on top or wing nut or fold over style cap. Be sure the cap fastens securely.

TIRES AND WHEELS
Aluminum or steel wheels only. Right front and right rear must be a racing style wheel. Bead locks allowed. We have open rules on the size of racing tires you can run. No D.O.T. tires allowed

WING
Must be securely mounted, left sideboard cannot extend past the outside of the tire. No two stage hydraulic wings allowed. A 30” max above the roof to the bottom of the wing at the front mount angle is allowed. Sprint wings are allowed, 24” left side boards measured from the top of wing to the top of panel required and 12” right side boards. 5x5 Sprint wings are allowed per the ASCS regulations.

IGNITION
Any type of ignition system is allowed.

MUFFLERS
Mufflers are mandatory on all cars. Be aware if a track has a specific muffler that they may require.

PUSH OFFS
If a car can not start on his own while in the line up chute, he will not be able to start the heat race. You will be allowed one push off in the line up chute for the feature.

TWMA MEMBERSHIP
Any car running a TWMA sanctioned race will be required to be a paid member by their second race, you get one on the house and after that you must be a paid member. If you wish your dues to be paid from your purse after your first race (If applicable) this will be fine. There will be a $50 membership fee that will need to be paid before you will be able to race. You will have one race to get your dues paid and there after, you will need to have your dues paid or not be able to race. The points will run thru the last scheduled event and after that awards will be added up and awards will be paid to the top 10 places. After you pay you membership, you will receive a TWMA pay card. All members that are under the age of 16 will be required to take hot laps that will be witnessed by officials and if deemed that they have the ability to control the car and hold their lines will be allowed to run. They will also have to start the first two races on the rear of the pack in the heat races and also the feature. Written permission from one of the parents will also need to be on file.

SAFETY RULES
All safety rules enforced by the track will be in effect, in addition, all drivers must wear a Snell SA95, SA2000, SA2005 safety helmet. All helmets must have a Snell sticker clearly visible inside the helmet. A safety check of seat belts, shoulder harnesses, helmets, and height of a drivers head in relation to height of roll cage will be performed with the drivers strapped in the racecar. In all times the helmet must remain 2” below the top of the roll cage. Seat belts and double over the shoulder harnesses, with quick release for the belts are required. The seat belts must be securely fastened to the frame. No homemade harnesses are allowed. Seat belts must keep a driver from sliding from side to side in the seat. Five points, submarine type belts are strongly recommended. All glass must be removed. No mirrors or reflective devices allowed. All competing cars must have a roll cage. The roll cage must have at least one cross bar in the rear. A brace on each side of the cage is required from the rear of the frame to the top of the roll bars. The roll bars must be gusseted and the minimum size of material must be 1 ¼ do round .095 pipe. All cars must have a roof covering the roll cage. All cars must have at two wheel working brakes. A complete fire suite and racing shoes with a neck brace and nomex gloves shall be worn at all times will racing. A working fire extinguisher within easy reach of the driver is recommended. All cars must have a safety firewall between the driver and the engine. Firewalls must keep flames out of the driver’s compartment. Fuel cells must be located a safe distance from the driver in the trunk area. The fuel cell must be securely mounted with two, one inch straps. Helmets must be properly strapped, if a person is caught racing without his helmet strapped, he will be disqualified from that event. Fuel line running thru the driver’s compartment must be secured and protected where they pass thru the firewall. A steel safety loop on accelerator pedals is strongly recommended. One way safety valves in fuel vent lines are also recommended. Nerf bars and bumpers can not have any open or sharp edges. No car will be allowed to start a race without a rear bumper. There can not be any electric connections in the trunk area. Aluminum seats will be required and they must be securely mounted. Standard transmission cars will be inspected for explosion proof steel bell housings. Solid disk clutches are recommended. Steering wheel quick disconnects are recommended.
Penalty: Warning-Must be corrected before next event or you will not race the following event.

LINE-UP PROCEDURES
1. First night, all drivers draw for heats. Qualifiers redraw for starting positions. One heat - 4 redraw; two heats - 8 redraw; three heats - 12 redraw.
2. From second night on, heats are to be drawn before the races and the heat races will be lined up by how you draw.
3. “B” mains are lined up straight up from heats with highest finishers to front.
4. When one heat is run, top four qualifiers will be inverted for feature lineup according to season TWMA point average. When two or five heats are run, the top 10 qualifiers will be inverted for feature lineup according to season TWMA point average. When three, four or six heats are run, top 12 qualifiers will be inverted for feature according to season TWMA point average. TWMA and promoter reserve the right to relocate a driver from an invert position to the rear of the field if deemed necessary for the safety and well-being of all involved. Remainder of “A” feature is lined up straight up from heats and/or “B” features.
5. There is no double feature nights allowed, excluding rain-out make-up features. A program is not considered a rain-out unless heat races have been completed. If feature is rained out and will not be run at later date, all drivers are to be awarded last place points.
6. Track option to line up mid-season and season championships straight up by total points

POINT STRUCTURE
1. Weekly ‘A’ Feature win is 50 points, with each subsequent position worth two points less, with 24th position in feature is worth 4 points. If more than 24 cars start feature, all positions from 24th back receive 2 points. If track runs a ‘B’ feature(s), all non-transferring driver receives 2 points. Drivers that don’t qualify for ‘A’ or ‘B’ feature will receive no points. Should a driver qualify for ‘B’ feature or ‘A’ feature, and not be able to compete, they will be scored in last position and receive points accordingly.
2. Each heat race will give points to the top 4 places, 1st – 10 points, 2nd – 8 points, 3rd – 6 points, 4th – 4 points. (Promoter’s discretion whether vacated position is filled in feature by next qualified driver.)

PROTESTS
All protest must be filed with a technical official. Prior to the start of the feature race. The 25$ protest fee must be in cash and this is a visual inspection only that can include removing the valve cover. The protest can be stated by any driver or owner that is racing that event. The protest can not be withdrawn after it is given to the official. The protested car will go directly to a designated area right after the feature. If the car is found to be illegal, the protest money is returned to that person making the protest, and the illegal car forfeits that night’s points and money. If the car is found legal, he gets the protest fee.

SPORTSMANSHIP

  • Absolutely no fighting-disciplinary action will be taken.
  • Any car disqualified for obvious rough driving or for unsportsmanlike conduct will not be paid for that event and could face other disciplinary action. Drivers and pit crew members are expected to be professional and if there is a problem it must be taken to the board members and not to track officials or track owners. If this happens a $100 fine will be implemented and must be paid before the next race.
  • Penalty if found illegal to the above rules as stated above is lost points and money for that week, the second time is lost points and money for that week and a 2 week suspension.
  • TWMA officials shall have responsibility for rules and regulation enforcement at IMCA weekly sanctioned events. At discretion of track official(s) in charge, any competitor may be disqualified for rule violations, hazardous equipment or hazardous actions.
  • Consumption of alcoholic beverage by a driver or his/her crew in advance of, or while competing in any TWMA sanctioned program is strictly forbidden. Any driver showing evidence of alcohol consumption will be required to leave the premises immediately.
  • If consistent rough driving occurs, the elected officers will issue a verbal warning, if the rough driving persists, a two week suspension will follow, and finally the third offense will bring being banned for the remaining year.

TRACK PROCEEDURES
All track line up procedures will be how we will line up. Yellow flag restarts will be at the discretion of track. All cars must get in single line as soon as possible to facilitate track officials in re-alignment.
It is understood that these rules were discussed and approved by a majority vote at our meeting at the 2007 banquet held in Hillsboro. The rules will not be changed during the 2008 season.
